Haitian migrants apprehended in Bimini and Inagua, Bahamas

Coral Harbour Base - Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force's Matthew Town Base in Inagua apprehended ten undocumented Haitian nationals who were found aboard a 40-foot American registered sailing vessel anchored off Inagua this morning. The migrants were brought ashore and handed over to Bahamas Immigration officials in Inagua, and later flown to Nassau where they will be detained at the Carmichael Road Detention Center.

Transport of Migrants from Bimini to Nassau - HMBS DURWARD KNOWLES is alongside at Bimini embarking migrants who arrived on the island last evening. DURWARD KNOWLES is expected to return to Nassau tomorrow where migrants will be handed over to Immigration officials.

Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force worked in collaboration with both members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Immigration Officials on the islands of Bimini and Inagua.
