Nassau, Bahamas --We have been advised that around 6:30 am this morning the Drug Enforcement Unit intercepted a MIYA vehicle. The vehicle was in the possession of an employee of the company who had completed the 11:00 pm – 5:00 am shift. Due to the shift patterns currently in place to execute work in the field it is not uncommon for employees to have Company vehicles at the conclusion of their shift. MIYA regards this incident as very serious and will cooperate fully with the law regarding the matter.

MIYA in partnership with the Water and Sewerage Cooperation (WSC) signed a contract in 2012 to implement a long-term approach to significantly reduce water losses in the Bahamian water distribution system. Almost 7 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of water, 90% of which comes from expensive desalination plants, was lost to leaks in the system. The overall goal of this project is to reduce these losses to just 2.5 MIGD in 5 years and 2.0 MIGD in 7 years, while also improving the level of service to WSC customers.

MIYA currently employs over 30 employees directly and another 100 Bahamians are employed through various subcontractors. MIYA Bahamas conducts background checks and other screening procedures as part of our recruitment process and will continue to do so in the highest standards.
