3RD, 1ST, 2ND: Top honours went to Miss Long Island Ashley Hamilton (center) with Long Island Breeze; second was Miss New Providence Andrea Bowleg as the Lady Maroon; and in third was Miss Paradise Island Pischia Adderley in Jewels of Paradise.

Nassau, Bahamas ā€“ It was a celebration of Bahamian history and culture with an explosion of color and creativity as the 2016 Miss Bahamas contestants competed in the National Dress (Costume) competition immediately following a float parade throughout the streets of New Providence. A pirate, Bahama parrot, rake nā€™ scrape queen and Royal Pineapple were just some of the themes on display which were presented in an entertaining fashion before the panel of judges and dozens of onlookers in Pompey Square, downtown Nassau.

Receiving Top Honours in the competition was Miss Long Island Ashley Hamilton, whose description of Long Island Breeze was as creative as her costume. Coming in second was Miss New Providence Andrea Bowleg with her display of a sexy female pirate The Lady Maroon. And rounding out the Top 3 was Miss Paradise Island Pischia Adderley with her interpretation of Jewels of Paradise. The National Dress competition is for a special award and does not count towards the contestants overall scores for advancement.
