NBC anchor/reporter favorite Tim Malloy paid a visit to Grand Bahama to do a story for his network on our Potcake Puppies and the problems they face. He paid a visit to The Humane Society of Grand Bahama where he got first hand footage of its furry residents, as well as interviewing shelter manager Tip Burrows and HSGB President Christopher Johnston.
Mrs. Burrows is the founder of “Operation Puppy Lift, ” a programme of The Humane Society of Grand Bahama, which places potcake puppies in animal shelters in the United States. Operation Puppy Lift, through Mrs. Burrows guidance, has placed hundreds of potcake puppies in loving homes where they would have faced an extremely uncertain future here in Grand Bahama.
Mrs. Burrows recently conducted a Spay/Neuter clinic on the West End of Grand Bahama, neutering hundreds of dogs, thus preventing the birth of thousands of puppies who would have been born, merely to suffer endlessly.
Earlier in the weekend Mr. Malloy toured Grand Bahama Island with HSGB Honorary Chairman, Frances Singer-Hayward, getting footage of feral potcakes as well as interviewing Ms. Singer-Hayward and animal behaviourist William Grimmer. Also on hand was AMIGO – who returned to Grand Bahama after a stint abroad, spreading his message of ‘making the world a better place for potcakes’ (and all challenged
animals) by raising awareness of their plight.
Mr. Malloy is very much a super star in the field of televsion journalism and a great favorite on WPTV, the NBC affiliate. His nightly newscast is viewed by millions and has a far-reaching range throughout South Florida.
It is hoped that Mr. Malloy’s piece will help raise international awareness of the severe problems facing our potcake population.
