Eleuthera, Bahamas - On Saturday, October 24, 2009, more than 300 musicians and cultural stakeholders made their way to Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera, for the first ever Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Eleuthera Band Encounter.  The event was a chance for band members from more than 10 bands from New Providence, Spanish Wells and Eleuthera to come together in a spirit of unity through music.  It was also a chance for students to showcase their talents.

The students enjoyed performances by Christian Massive and international recording star Lanlord.  Also joining with other senior officials in the festivities were the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Desmond Bannister, Minister of State for Culture the Hon. Charles Maynard, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry Archie Nairn and Eleuthera Members of Parliament Alvin Smith and Oswald Ingraham.

Freelance cultural photographer Patrice Ann Johnson covered the event and provided us with these photos.
