Coral Harbour Base, (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is investigating information concerning the sighting of foreign vessels suspected of poaching in the southern Bahamas during the past several days.

The Acting Commander Defence Force, Captain Raymond King, expressed appreciation on behalf of the Defence Force and himself for the information received from concerned residents. He also encouraged persons with information of suspicious activities to call the Defence Force hotline at 242-376-6219.

As the RBDF continues to work within the disaster affected areas, the Squadron Department maintains active patrols by its fleet of craft as it protects the territorial boundaries from persons engaged in illicit maritime activities.

In addition to patrolling the waters of The Bahamas inclusive of the southern, central and Great Bahama Banks, the Defence Force is also working closely with partner law enforcement agencies in Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, and Abaco to prevent illegal fishing, as well as the smuggling of arms, undeclared goods and other contraband by locals and foreigners.

As we continue to serve the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the RBDF assures that the preservation of freedom of residents and non-residents will be upheld to a high standard.
