Bimini, Bahamas – Residents of North Bimini who have been plagued by dusty, pothole-ridden roads over the years are all smiles, now that the paving of the island’s King’s Highway is all but complete, courtesy of Resorts World Bimini (RWB). The road works are expected to be completed within the month of November as part of the contract to extend the South Bimini Airport runway, which is also ongoing. The infrastructural development also includes the resurfacing and paving of the government dock in Alice Town.

RWB has been working closely with Bimini’s Local Government Council in its efforts to give the island a facelift. The public/private partnership includes the resort’s purchasing of a heavy duty back hoe and flatbed truck which are earmarked for the Council’s program of demolishing and removing abandoned buildings and derelict vehicles, a longtime eyesore on the island.

The Bimini Beautification project continues with the Most Beautiful Yard competition, also sponsored by RWB. The resort is donating 1000’s of gallons of paint to the island’s residents who are being encouraged to paint their homes and spruce up their surroundings for a chance to win the top prize of $1000. A second place winner will receive $500, while the third place winner will receive $250.

Says RWB President Edward Farrell, all of these initiatives combined will result in an enhanced experience, both for locals and visitors to the island.

“Resorts World Bimini is proud to support the people of Bimini with their beautification efforts,” he said. “With the repaired and repaved roads, beautifully decorated houses and yards, the soon coming Bimini Heritage Trail, and the quaint charm and sports fishing the island is already known for, this already beautiful destination is going to be second none.”
