Royal Navy evacuates residents from Crooked Island

(October 5) On Monday evening, Bahamas Police Commissioner, Elison Greenslade's twitter account showed photos coming out of Pitt Town Point, Crooked Island.

He's reported that the British Royal Navy was evacuating residents from the Hurricane Joaquin devastated island to Nassau.

Bahamian islands that have been impacted by the category 4 hurricane are Cat Island, Ragged Island, Inagua, Mayaguana, Exuma, San Salvador, Rum Cay, Crooked Island, Long Island and Acklins...

The all clear was given by NEMA on Saturday morning and hurricane relief efforts are in full swing. Relief has been coming in from the USA, and other islands of The Bahamas.

Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade made a plea for help this afternoon, and 46 people evacuated from Pitts Town Point, Crooked Island, who were at Colonel Hill Airport, have been airlifted to Nassau.
