Nassau, Bahamas - Statement By Hon. Hope Strachan, Member of Parliament for Seabreeze Constituency:

I wish to register my concern to the residents of Joe Farrington Road, Seabreeze Lane, Bay Lilly Drive and the surrounding areas that have been adversely affected and impacted by the smoke emanating from the Car Recycling Plant on the main Joe Farrington Road.

Rest assured that I have brought this matter to the attention of my colleague The Hon. Kenred Dorsett, Minister of Housing and The Environment with a view to finding a viable solution to this vexing problem.

I wish to also advise residents of Seabreeze Lane, that after consultation with The Minister of the Environment, the recently established wrecking yard along that corridor has been issued a NOTICE TO CEASE AND DESIST in accordance with the Town Planning Act. This will facilitate that Ministry’s action towards removal in the shortest possible time.

I will continue to actively seek redress of these matters and will provide regular updates to residents and the general public alike.

Hon. C.V. Hope Strachan,
Member of Parliament for Seabreeze Constituency
