Nassau, Bahamas - Grand Bahamians, Peandra Knowles and Sinardo Deleveaux got a 5-day trip of a lifetime as winners of Supermodel of the Bahamas competition held earlier this year. Both were flown to the Big Apple and enjoyed a fast-paced and full-on model life experience during internationally renown Fashion Week.

"Transporting my 2010 winners of Supermodel of the Bahamas to New York City was such a positive experience, and I'm looking forward to their trip to Miami for Miami Fashion Week in March 2011. Right after that they will be on to Aruba for their International competition in the same month. Our winners represented The Bahamas on such a level that  New York has a new dynamic outlook on Bahamian talent," said founder of Supermodel of the  Bahamas Mr. OilinSha Coakley.

"My organization is so pleased to manage two of the most humble and intelligent kids Grand Bahama has to offer. Peandra Knowles and Sinardo Deleveaux have now set the pace for a higher standard to our competition, and future contestants better bring it to match what they have done."

"The new year holds great promise for the winners as my plans are to relocate them and other models from my agency to New York permanently."

Their 5-day schedule went like this:

Day 1: The trip began with a welcome party on September 4th and was attended by designer Paul Laurence,  Audrey Adams from "Let's Talk with Audrey",
Darnell Temple from Atlantic Records, Kendell Monroe of Kmaxx Productions, and who coordinated the trip and other professionals too many to mention. Both Adams and Monroe were judges at Supermodel of the Bahamas competition held earlier this year in Nassau.

Day 2: The winners attended Go-Sees where they were seen by designer, Marco Hall and then they toured around New York City.

Day 3: Peandra and Sinardo had a test shoot with European photographer "Tohr" and then they manage to fit in some shopping.

Day 4: Peandra made international air time on the Wendy Williams Show when she got to ask a question from the audience to the show's host and guest star Raven Symone, of That's So Raven; Peandra and Sinardo has a photo shoot with Black Enterprise Magazine; and later that evening Peandra was featured in the Marco Hall Fashion showcase where  American celebrity fashion stylist, Nole Moran and Carl Francis Smith Consul General, Consulate General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas were present to lend their support.

Day 5: Sinardo has a photo shoot for designer Paul Laurence's clothing campaign and Peandra has an interview and shoot for Essence Magazine's website.

When asked about his trip to NYC, Supermodel winner Sinardo Deleveaux said, "New York City was amazing, it's always amazing!  I can honestly say that I had the full model in New York City experience walking around the city, running from casting to casting, using the subway and navigating my way around. Add to that the fashion shows, photo shoots, and parties!  They were all fun, but I think the main focus of these exercises were to teach me, and to also  give me an in depth and  firsthand experience of what it's really like to be a working model in a cutthroat city like NYC. I also learned that it is an extremely  tough job that requires so much more than just  being a pretty face!  I learned that the physical makes up about  5% of a model and the other 95% is having a great personality, having a good attitude and mostly having a strong and tough mind, because at the end of the day, this is a tough business."

Peandra Knowles, who was accompanied by her mother on the trip said, "It was a once in a lifetime experience for me.  It was my first time in New York and my first international fashion show, so it will be a memory never forgotten!  I'd like to thank Kendal Munroe, Audrey Adams, and Marco Hall for allowing me to model in his fashion show. I am thankful for all the gifts I was offered while I was there and I am truly grateful. Without Mr. Coakley none of this would have been possible, and I want to thank God for giving him the vision to make it all work prosperously!

Supermodel of the Bahamas is similar to America's Next Top Model in that it discovers new faces, most of whom have never modeled before. The candidates are then trained and pushed to perform, whereupon it becomes obvious after photo shoots, runway shows, and interviews, who is made for the life of a model. http://www. supermodelofthebahamas.com/
