Freeport, Bahamas  - On January 31st 2017, The Bahamas’ inaugural TEDxYouth event, TEDxYouth@GrandBahama, took place! Over 300 junior and high school students gathered at the Regency Theatre and participated in this fun, imaginative, and smart TEDx event designed for, and organized by young people on Grand Bahama island with the guidance of adult advisors.

TEDxYouth@GrandBahama brought ideas worth spreading to all ages and featured Dillon Archer of Bishop Michael Eldon School; Brittany Malcolm of Lucaya International School; Kerel Pinder, author and playwright; and Timico SawYerBoy Sawyer, comedian; under the theme “What If...?” and aimed:

  • to bring together bright minds to give presentations that are idea-focused and on a wide range of subjects;
  • to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder; and
  • to provoke conversations that matter.
  • Combined, they empowered Bahamian youth to imagine ways that they can help to shape their individual and collective futures.
Following the talks, the audience engaged with the speakers during a moderated panel discussion, at which time they were able to explore further the ideas presented by the speakers. It is with great pleasure that the organizers of TEDxYouth@GrandBahama announce that the 2017 video talks are now freely available for online viewing as follows:
