Bahamas Jr. Minister of Tourism 2017 Michael Wallace secured a second-place finish at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Youth Congress in Grenada, on Friday.
 
Wallace, a student of St. Anne’s School in New Providence, presented on the topic, “Signature Tourism Products – Strengthening the image of your destination”. Wallace presented the idea of The Island Hop, a proposed mini-cruise experience throughout The Islands of The Bahamas. It’s an idea that the 17-year-old thought would bring young travelers to The Bahamas for new fun and exciting experiences...

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) elected The Bahamas as President of the Commission for the Americas (CAM) at the 22nd session General Assembly held in Chengdu, China, September 10 – 17, 2017. Bahamas Minister of Tourism and Aviation, the Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar, will assume the seat on behalf of the country for the next two years.

“With such unique and diverse cultural and natural attributes that the Americas are blessed with, I pledged to work in collaboration with member States of the region to further develop and promote these attributes globally in an effort to enhance the quality of life of citizens through the advancement of tourism development,” D’Aguilar said...

The Bahamas is back to business as tourism resumes after mainly cosmetic clean-up in our major tourism centers, while efforts to rebuild in those islands of The Bahamas that were hardest hit continue.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 12, all airports in The Bahamas are open and both international and domestic service has resumed. Major hotels in Nassau have already welcomed newly arrived guests, and cruise ships are expected to begin calling at ports in The Bahamas today. Recreational marinas have also reopened after reporting mostly no damage.

PLANTATION, Florida – (August 3, 2017) – Captains Sean Murray and Colin Gray, pilots from Cape town, South Africa said, that they had always been fascinated with the beauty of The Bahamas and had dreamed of flying there.  They decided to make their dream a reality and combined their trip to The Bahamas with the recent EAA Air Venture Conference in OshKosh, Wisconsin, which climaxed July 31, 2017.

“ The Bahamas’ exhibit at the 65thAnnual Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Fly In and Convention, held July 23-31, 2017 at the Wittman Regional Airport in OshKosh, Wisconsin was incredibly successful”, says Greg Rolle, pilot and Sr. Director, of Sports and Vertical Markets, Ministry of Tourism & Aviation.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL  - July 17, 2017 - Bahamians in South Florida, persons of Bahamian descent and friends of The Bahamas recently gathered at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, Miami, Florida for an Independence Ecumenical Service to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the Independence of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

Among the speakers at the event, His Excellency Mr. Reuben Rahming, The Bahamas/CARICOM Ambassador-designate, received enthusiastic cheers when he told those in attendance that,  "the greatest asset of The Bahamas is not sun sand or sea, but WE (the people)."

Golf tour operators from around the globe were eager to find out more about golfing in The Islands of The Bahamas at the 10th IAGTO North American Golf Tourism Convention (NAC) recently. The NAC attracted nearly 200 golf tour operators and was held at the Trump National Doral Miami country club in Miami, Florida. 

IAGTO is the global trade organization for the golf tourism industry, which comprises of 2438 accredited golf tour operators, golf resorts, hotels, golf courses, receptive operators, airlines, tourist boards, approved media and business partners in 95 countries including, at its core, 652 specialist golf tour operators in 62 countries...

This week representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, along with The Bahamas National Trust, held a press conference at the Rand Nature Center to announce a special conch vendor’s workshop to be held on Thursday, June 29th from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Senior Executive for Sustainable Tourism, Jeffrey Pinder, explained that the workshop is targeted to persons who are harvesting and reselling the conch, along with those who make various products using conchshell.

It’s summer time again and that means Junkanooers throughout the Islands of The Bahamas are getting ready for a sizzling Junkanoo Summer Festival.

The cultural extravaganza will take over Arawak Cay July 1, 15, 22 and 29. The festival, which runs from 4:00 p.m. to midnight, will also feature mouthwatering Bahamian dishes from nearly 30 vendors, authentic Bahamian craft and an exciting kiddie corner.

Each evening focuses on a different aspect of Junkanoo. On July 1, the spotlight will be on choreography, July 15, groups will be judged on costumes and on July 22 the overall competition will be held...

On Thursday, June 15th,the Alpitour Villaggi Bravo Charter flight returned to Grand Bahama Island to commence its summer program, after a successful charter season in 2016.

With a total of 103 passengers on board, the charter, which is the only direct flight from Milan, Italy to Grand Bahama Island, will allow visitors to experience a week-long vacation stay at the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Resort, partner property.
Cristina Cazzani from the Bahamas Tourist Office (BTO), Italy said that, "The Bahamas Tourist Office in Italy has a long relationship with travel to Grand Bahama... Since 1992, we have sent lots of Italians in the summer through our charters.
