Bahamas Invasion of Miami Heat Game Met with Great Fanfare and Success

PLANTATION, FLA. - The invasion of the Bahamas’ multi-destination brand and cultural display at the recent Miami Heat game against the Chicago Bulls was met with great fanfare and success, further strengthening The Bahamas’ five-year partnership with the Miami Heat Organization.

The game, dubbed a Bahamas Theme Night, saw the Miami Heat ravage the Chicago Bulls with a score of 129-111, and “was nothing short of amazing,” says Greg Rolle, Sr. Director of Sales, Marketing and Sports for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT).

“Our joint efforts demonstrated at this game have proven to be mutually rewarding and has no doubt further cemented our already strong partnership. We believe that The Bahamas’ invasion and cultural immersion experienced by these fans will result in an even greater number of persons visiting our beautiful country,” he said.

Bahamas brand - Fans were given opportunities to win Bahamas branded items including a three-day two nights stay for two to the Grand Isle Resort in Exuma.

Some 20,000 spectators, who attended the game, got a sneak taste of The Bahamas’ beauty, people, music and diverse culture.

Throughout the night, jumbo trons displayed beautiful vignettes of the Islands of The Bahamas from videos produced by the BMOT as well as clippings of the Heat dancers recent video shoot in The Bahamas.

Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival dancers adorned in vibrantly colored costumes brought fans to their feet as they performed to choreographed dance routines alongside the Miami Heat cheerleaders to music of Bahamian entertainers, Colyn McDonald and Stevie S. The Bahamas Carnival will take place April 15-16 in Grand Bahama and May 5-7 in Nassau.

Fans were given opportunities to win t-shirts, cheering fans, and other Bahamas signature items as well as a chance of a three days two nights stay for two at the beautiful Grand Isle Resort in Georgetown, Exuma.

Six children from the Grand Bahama Urban Renewal Program and guests of the Miami Heat, interacted on the court, with the Heat players, sharing “high five” experiences.

Alonzo Mourning, Miami Heat Vice President of Players Operations and former Heat center, said he “is happy to work with The Bahamas, the ideal Caribbean partner for his organization”.

“I along with our team spent our training camp in The Bahamas, three years ago,” he said.

“Our guys love the warm climate and the tropical waters of The Bahamas. Its very close and convenient and we try to visit as much as we can. When you look at The Bahamas, their activities are very family friendly, and most of us travel with our families. The welcome we receive is always outstanding, and very memorable. It’s an appropriate marriage, it truly is,” he said.
