LOS ANGELES, California - The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT)
served as a bronze-level sponsor for Friends, The Foundation of the
California African American Museum’s (CAAM) annual gala, An Artful Evening at CAAM, which this year
honored legendary, Academy Award-winner Sir Sidney Poitier and acclaimed
artist John Outterbridge with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
The gala welcomed more than 200 guests including celebrities, Los
Angeles’ key stakeholders and art community. Senior Director of Communications
Geneva Cooper also gave an opening statement that recognized more than
60 years of Poitier’s remarkable accomplishments as a star of the
stage and silver screen, film director, author, poet and Bahamian diplomat.
