Bahamas Tourism holds grieving session to cope with tragic loss of Princess Simms

Nassau, New Providence - With heavy and somber hearts, executives and a staff of the Ministry of Tourism held a special grieving session with noted psychiatrist Dr. Timothy Barrett to help cope with the sudden and tragic loss of the late Princess Simms, a senior manager of Human Resources, who served the ministry diligently for nearly 25 years.
The meeting was held at the British Colonial Hilton where staff members prayed and sang songs while comforting each other.
Minister of Tourism the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe, who worked closely with Simms said, “It is a personal and difficult loss for me. Princess was a vibrant person who was filled with life. She was an encouraging person who gave so much and had so much more to give. She was one of the most special persons I have ever met in my life.
“I’ve also received condolences from people all around the world saying how much she impacted their lives. She will be dearly missed.”
Permanent Secretary Harrison Thompson also spoke fondly of Simms.
“Princess was a very generous person who touched the lives of everyone she came into contact with. She was frank and you always knew how she felt. But there was no doubt that she cared about the ministry and was a true ambassador for this country,” he said.
Senior Director of Human Resources Leslie Norville also spoke to Simms’ generosity.
“Princess gave much of herself to the Ministry of Tourism and to others. If you asked her for her last, she would give it to you no questions asked. She was very lovable and always lit up a room. May she rest in peace,” she said.
Simms, 55, along with her husband Bradley died on May 19.
They are survived by three children and three grandchildren.
