Nassau, Bahamas — Who’s ready to hit the road for Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival?

It’s time to lace up your boots and head to Grand Bahama this weekend because that’s where it’s all getting started.

Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival officially kicks off in Freeport this Friday, April 15 at Taino Beach.

The Bahamas National Festival Commission has contracted seven top Bahamian musicians for Grand Bahama, along with the top 20 semifinalists in the Music Masters Song Competition and seven international artists.

Local artists D-Mac, Stileet, Visage, Jay Mitchell, Geno D, the legendary Ronnie Butler and Julien Believe will tear up the stage.

Olatunji, Jack Nasty, Ricardo Drue, Roachie, Fadda Fox, Shurwayne Winchester and King Bubba round out the international artists.

The cost of the event is $10 per day, which gives you all day access to the Grand Bahama Cultural Village, along with all day activities for the entire family. The two-day event will give local and international patrons their first chance to soak up the culture, amp up the music and turn up the vibes this Junkanoo Carnival season.

Taking center stage in Grand Bahama will be the semifinalists for the Music Masters competition.

Sixteen talented Bahamians will compete for bragging rights and a chance to win $20,000.
