Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – Due to inclement weather, the Ministry of Tourism, Grand Bahama Island, has decided to cancel the Junkanoo Summer Festival events at Sunset Village, Eight Mile Rock today (Aug. 14) and West End tomorrow (Aug. 15). We’d like to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment, which is not possible if the ground has been saturated with rain and/or the prediction of evening thunderstorms has been forecast for the entire weekend. We look forward to the support of our sponsors, all Grand Bahama residents, national and international visitors next week, for Junkanoo Summer Festival’s Grand Finale; with all six (6) Junkanoo groups being judged in the music category on Friday, August 21st at Sunset Village, Eight Mile Rock, and all six (6) Junkanoo groups being judged in the costume category on Saturday, August 22nd in West End.
