Grand Bahama Island- On Friday, September 5th,
the first half of the spirited ladies of the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleaders arrived
on Grand Bahama for a week-long photo and video shoot, ending today, in
preparation for their upcoming calendar and television show. According to team
captain, Brooke Boxberger, the team is looking forward to “sunny weather, nice
sandy beaches, great pictures and fun in the sun”.
Fortunately, for this excited bunch, they were
welcomed to the island with just that.
According to Donnie Fraizer, Cheerleader and Talent Manager
for the Atlanta Hawks, “Each year, the Hawks production team selects beautiful,
exotic locations as the background for their calendar photo shoot”. The
selection of Grand Bahama Island by the Hawks production staff was a decision
that was driven by the islands numerous pristine beach options, coupled with
the opportunity for strong partnership and cultural exchange.

With the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board and the Grand
Lucayan Resort teaming up with the Hawks to deliver a grandiose experience, the
partnership has produced numerous co-branding opportunities. According to
Tourism Director for Grand Bahama, Betty Bethel,
"The Ministry of Tourism is always pleased when the
industry partnerships unite for the overall success of the destination. As we
continue to explore opportunities for exposure through Sports initiatives, the
arrival of the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleaders is timely. Their calendar shoot will
provide us with 12 months and beyond of promotion and exposure of Grand Bahama
Island in Atlanta and its feeder cities via Delta Airlines. The Grand Lucayan
and The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board are to be applauded for their
collaboration on this initiative”.
A
resort member of the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, The Grand
Lucayan Resort’s brand and logo will be incorporated into the 2014-2015
Cheerleader calendar with the resort being recognized as an official partner of
the Atlanta Hawks. The photo and video shoot will also feature well known sites
throughout the island, including; Gold Rock Beach and other scenic waterways.
The Grand Lucayan will also be recognized during home game in-game cheerleading
segments with logo branding appearing on the upper end zone digital LED board,
as well as during the filming of the Atlanta Hawks TV Show; which will be aired
on Fox Sports South. To top the totem pole, the
Resort will have the
opportunity to be featured with a destination prize pack, in-game giveaways at
three Atlanta
Hawks home games.

According to Director of Marketing Services, Grand Bahama
Island Tourism Board, Carmel Churchill, “the exposure that this partnership
will provide for Grand Bahama in the Atlanta market is sure to boost the demand
for existing direct service from Atlanta, via Delta Airlines”. As Delta
Airlines prepares to continue its daily flights to Grand Bahama beginning
November 2nd, increasing its capacity for the winter peak, there
will be additional flight on Saturdays, catering to the demand for weekend
travel. With this dynamic Atlanta partnership, Grand Bahama is sure to score.
