FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island- Every year, tourists flock to the shores of Grand Bahama and participate in the family fun activities for which the island is renowned.

Despite experiencing the effects of Hurricane Matthew, many of the sporting companies on the island remain functional and ready for business.

Sarah Rolle, Vice President, Ocean Motion Water Sports Bahamas, says, “The recovery process on Matthew has been really quick; I feel that the island was really well prepared. It's now been two weeks and Ocean Motion is ready to go with everything we have always offered".

The establishment, which has been operational for thirty years, has survived several hurricanes that have impacted Grand Bahama Island. As a result, the well-known water sports company was more than equipped to re-open for business so quickly.
Located on Lucayan Beach behind the Grand Memories Resort, Ocean Motion Water Sports Bahamas creates the perfect beach day experience for those interested in enjoying banana boating, parasailing, jet skiing, and the numerous water-based activities the company has to offer.

For those interested in touring Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas Adventures (a water sports and tour company) is also ready to facilitate groups on a private beach property.

After two years of operating in The Bahamas, Bahamas Adventures has developed a reputation of creating an atmosphere of family fun and support for local businesses.
Cesar Ochoa, General Manager, Bahamas Adventures, notes that he and his team "Made a promise that just ten business days after the hurricane, we would be ready to go and get back to action".

On Friday, October 21st, 2016, Bahamas Adventures re-opened for business with a brand new deck to improve the existing restaurant space.
Usual entertainment, catering services, specialized day tours, and shopping can be also expected.

The speedy recovery process throughout Grand Bahama Island's water sports community can be attributed to the tight-knit relationships that business owners have formed over the years.

Linda Osbourne, General Manager, UNEXSO and the Dolphin Experience, said that "Those of us that have been in the industry have been working together to see what everybody needs. It's been amazing to see everybody come together to help each other out".

The property, which sustained minimal damages after Hurricane Matthew, was fortunate to re-open for business two days after the storm.

She notes that despite the circumstances, there are several dive groups scheduled to visit, and they are adamant about keeping their reservations for a November excursion at UNEXSO.

In regard to the Dolphin Experience, Osbourne says that bookings are available and "If visitors have places to stay here we are up and going".

Currently, the UNEXSO store and "Dive In Marina Bar and Restaurant" are operating during normal business hours and look forward to continued service for valued customers.
