A chartered three-day ship has brought some life to Arawak Cay this week as 4,000 millennials swarmed the beachfront for fully charged spring break party on February 11.

‘Holy Ship’ is no stranger to The Bahamas. The ship has visited Cocoa Cay, Little Sturrup Cay, Great Harbour and Half Moon Cay on numerous occasions.

Organizer of the event Rafael Niemtchik said The Bahamas was the ideal place to bring the event.

“Holy Ship is a chartered cruise that caters to a crowd that like electronic music,” he said. “The problem that we have encountered throughout the years is that when you go to those lovely islands you have to bring the passengers in by boat. We went to Cocoa Cay in January but the weather was too rough. The solution was to come to Nassau to the Fish Fry and that came to a reality.

“We got Senator Greg Burrows was involved and everyone was excited. The Ministry of Tourism came on board and it was nothing but a receptive crowd. We brought all these kids and they were marching from the port.”

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism sponsored the event and ensured that security was beefed up and the area was beautified.

“We’ve developed an area with our Bahamian counterparts – an area that everyone is want to come to and it’s great. I’ve been all over the world doing shows and The Bahamas is simply the best. It’s not just about the beaches. It’s about the people. It’s a culture. It’s a diverse culture and it’s just so friendly; it keeps you wanting to keep coming back,” Mr. Niemtschick said.

“We looked at this as a test model and we are going to let them know that this is successful and this is going to work. We no longer have the weather depict whether or not we have a show. Right now, we are in place where even it was windy, we could still function.”
