New Bahamas Express ferry service from Balearia to start December 9th

After making preliminary announcements earlier this year, and with much anticipation, the Spanish company, Balearia will commence their Bahamas Express ferry service from Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale’s to Grand Bahama Island starting December 9th.  Offering daily service (excluding Wednesdays) the two and a half hour trip departs Florida at 10am and arrives at approximately 12:30pm in Grand Bahama, with a return trip the same evening departing Grand Bahama at 7:00pm.

Fares start at $49 and first class tickets are $90.

Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, David Johnson
, who was present for the announcement made by Baleara said, “This is a very, very important occasion for tourism in The Bahamas.’’


The Bahamas Express vessel is 225'catamaran and will leave from Terminal 1 at Port Everglades. Balearia intends to commence service to Bimini in the future.
