Wildcat Touring Begins Weekly Routes

A new air service began in Abaco and North Eleuthera this month to supply the large demand for travel from those islands to the United States.

Wildcat Touring, LLC began its service on May 1, 2015.

The company, operated by Meregrass Inc., is an FAA certified air carrier operating under Part 135 and a DOT 380 certificate.

Wildcat Touring currently operates up to four round trips per week from Fort Lauderdale to Marsh Harbour and two round trips per week to North Eleuthera.

However, if there is sufficient demand, the company will consider other destinations like New York to Marsh Harbour.

“We are responding to the perceived need for first class, dependable service to and from the mainland to various Bahamian islands,” said Wildcat Touring’s Director of Operations Tom McMeans.

“Our service will be much more akin to the private charter experience than the ‘cattle car’ one.”

One of the advantages the company has over other private charter services is its Saab 2000 jet prop, which is a far superior aircraft than the Saab 340 jet prop used by other carriers.

“It is the one and only airplane of its type to be in commercial, scheduled services in the USA. It is one of the fastest jet props ever produced (370 knots). It has a cabin designed for 50. However, we only have 30 seats. It has more legroom than first class with over 5 feet of legroom,” the company said.

“Also the fact that we are running a limited schedule of four round trips per week per city pairs means that we should almost always be able to operate on time. This is especially important in making a connecting flight at FLL.”

The company also allows two free checked bags.

The airline is already getting rave reviews.

One guest, who flew on the airline recently, lauded the company for the experience.

“Flying on Wildcat Touring was a great experience. The airplane was luxuriously appointed, very comfortable and first class. Flying out of their own private facility and avoiding the airport hassle is extremely convenient and a vast improvement to the travel experience versus a conventional airline,” the guest said.

“The addition of this airline to the service provided North Eleuthera is sorely needed and I hope it continues. The hotels and tourism industry of Eleuthera and Harbour Island would be greatly aided by the addition of this service.”
