Plans for the 25th anniversary the Pineapple Festival have already begun after a successful 24th Pineapple Fest weekend in Gregory Town, Eleuthera.

Jacqueline Gibson, acting general manager of the Bahamas Tourist Office in Eleuthera, said organizers plan to make the next festival the biggest and best in its history. This will require advanced preparations and new additions to the festival lineup, she said.

“The silver anniversary will be nothing short of stellar,” she said. “Although we had an impressive event this past weekend, we must always look for ways to improve, and there is no better time to step into a higher gear than for a special anniversary.”

This year’s Pineapple Festival included the pineapple culinary competition, the presentation of Little Miss Pineapple Festival, the Battle of the High School Bands and performances by the best Bahamian musical entertainers.  The Pineapple Festival was started by the Ministry of Tourism to honor pineapple farmers for their economic contributions to Eleuthera, and to allow Bahamians and visitors to meet to enjoy Bahamian cultural expressions.
