PITTSBURGH – Tired of the sun, sand and surf? Ready for an urban vacation including some good, old American football?

In cooperation with Grand Bahamas Tourism Board, VisitPITTSBURGH is sponsoring a “Picture Perfect Pittsburgh” contest to find the perfect social media travel host from Grand Bahama Island. The contest is being run in an effort to promote the one-month trial of a direct flight between Pittsburgh and Grand Bahama Island (GBI).

VisitPITTSBURGH and Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, their members and partners are collaborating to have residents from both places consider these destinations when selecting a vacation destination. Response to the trial could mean a regular flight between these two destinations beginning in 2015.

Grand Bahama Island residents are eligible to win a getaway to Pittsburgh, Pa., Oct. 20-26, 2014. A requirement of the grand prize is that the winner must post social media commentary during the six-day, seven-night voyage.

The winner and guest will receive two roundtrip airline tickets courtesy of Vacation Express, departing from Freeport International Airport (MYGF) to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT); hotel room accommodations and two tickets to the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Houston Texans NFL football game at Heinz Field. The winner and guest will also shop ‘til they drop at Grove City Premium Outlets. (And, there is no tax on clothing in Pennsylvania!) A $100 shopping voucher is included to buy souvenirs at the WELCOME PITTSBURGH Information Center and Gift Shop, plus tickets to other Pittsburgh attractions, such as Wigle Whiskey, ScareHouse and the Duquesne Incline, to name a few.

The contest is easy to enter. Beginning, Monday, September 15 at 9 a.m. EST, visit www.tourpittsburgh.com and complete the entry form for a chance to win this fun-filled “Picture Perfect Pittsburgh” prize. No payment or purchase of any kind is required, but entrant must be 21 years of age, a resident of Grand Bahama Island and a valid passport holder. As part of the entry process, the entrant must submit either a no-more-than three-minute video or 500-word written blog saying why he/she would be the best social media travel host from Grand Bahamas Island. The “Picture Perfect Pittsburgh” submissions will be accepted through Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, 11:50 p.m. EST.

One winner will be selected by VisitPITTSBURGH and announced on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014. The lucky winner will be notified by email and telephone.

“We’re excited for the residents of Grand Bahama Island to get to know Pittsburgh,” said Craig Davis, president and CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH. “And, what better way to do that than a trip to Pittsburgh that will demonstrate we’re one of America’s best vacation destinations.” The Travel Channel recently recognized the City of Champions as a top “All-American Vacation Destination.”

On the flip side, Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board will promote its own contest for a Pittsburgher and guest to visit the Grand Bahama Island, Oct. 11-15.

The premise of this promotion is for the winner to enjoy watching the Pittsburgh Steelers playing an away game in Cleveland vs. the Browns on Oct. 12 in the warm sunshine and beach setting of Grand Bahama Island.

VisitPITTSBURGH is the official tourism marketing and promotion agency of the Pittsburgh region. It is dedicated to generating conventions, trade show and leisure travel business for the Pittsburgh region.
