"Hard Work Pays Off"

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island- After the passing of Hurricane Matthew, Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort, an all inclusive beachfront hotel on Grand Bahama Island, is currently in the process of a multi-million dollar investment renovation.

With a set date to reopen on December 17th, 2016, management decided to take full advantage of the opportunity for restoration.

According to Claudio Natella, General Manager, Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort, a team of over 200 workers has been contracted to renovate the hotel.

He said that "We made a lot of improvements to the existing property, including new marble pathways, sport facilities (nautical & field sports), beach snack bar, jacuzzi, rooms, main pool area, theatre, restaurants, etc."

In fact, the employees have been very instrumental in the process of renovation as various services were needed immediately after the storm.

For those not employed during the process of renovation, management generously offered vacation time that included eighty dollars a week to help during the period of unemployment.

Ettore Collussi, owner of Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach, said that "Club Fortuna will be opened and better than before. I am very pleased with the outcome and very confident that we will have a great season in 2017. We are working together to make Grand Bahama better.

Betty Bethel, Director, Ministry of Tourism, Grand Bahama, said that she believes that "This is another demonstration of the fact that we have another opportunity for a new and improved product here on Grand Bahama and Viva has done an amazing job of doing just that."

The Ministry of Tourism is thankful for the opportunity to influence a destination where guests can come back year after year.
