Sun 'n Fun Promoting Major Fly-Out to The Bahamas

on front page of Sun n Fun website
– Top executives
at Sun ‘n Fun, Lakeland, Florida, are advertising and promoting
a Fly-Out to Grand Bahama and Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, May 23-27, 2013 on
the landing page of the
Sun
‘n Fun website.
Sun ‘n Fun’s President, John “Lites”
Leenhouts, was a part of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Aviation Department’s
annual FBO Fam to The Bahamas in 2012. The Sun ‘n Fun official stated
that “The simplicity of getting in and out, and the beauty and enjoyment
of travelling to The Bahamas, makes it an attractive destination
for any pilot.”
Other Sun ‘n Fun officials on the Bahamas
Fam included, Chairman, Robert ‘Bob’ Knight and Exhibits Manager, Bonnie
Perkins. President Leenhouts said that because of what he was able
to experience, during his trip last year, he and his executive team decided
to invite the organization’s supporters to 5 days/4 nights Fly-Out.
On their website Sun ‘n Fun are inviting
general aviation pilots to join them in an “AIR-rally Sun ‘n Fun style,”
and allow The Bahamas to show off their Islands from a new vantage point.”
Sun N Fun officials anticipate that the group for the Fly-Out will
be between 30 and 35 persons and 10-15 planes.
Sun 'n Fun is scheduled to take place
this year April 9-14
th, 2013 and is a "Fly-in"
and air
show held annually at Lakeland
Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland,
Florida.
The event usually takes place during the second or third week of
April. The popular air show was founded in 1974 and was first organized
by the local chapter of the Experimental
Aircraft Association.
The second largest aviation show in
the U.S. and the largest in Florida, Sun n Fun participants include owners
who fly their aircraft to the event from all parts of the
United
States and Canada.
Many pilots fly their own vintage, homebuilt
aircraft or restored
ex-military aircraft.
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and
Aviation, have been taking part in the Annual Sun ‘n Fun Aviation event
for more than 10 years. The event provides the opportunity to share Bahamas
information with the some 200,600 in attendance. Show goers also
have the opportunity to speak with Bahamas representatives including
hoteliers, Bahamas FBO officials as well as Bahamas Preferred Florida
based FBO executives. Information is available on all aspects relating
to the beauty of the 700 Islands and the ease of Flying to and around
the country.
The Bahamas is the nearest international
destination to the South Florida Coast – only 55 miles away at its nearest
point – and information on the tropical Island destination is always well
received by both the general aviation pilots and aviation enthusiasts who
attend the Show.
In addition to the Sun ‘n Fun aviation
show, The Bahamas also participates in the largest national aviation show,
EAA AirVenture, Osh Kosh, WI. The Bahamas’ own Chief Aviation Specialist,
Greg
Rolle is currently the
Chairman
of the International Federal Partnership,.
The IFP exhibit as a group annually at EAA and Rolle completes
his term in that post at the end of this year’s EAA event.
