Bahamas Heavily Promoted at World Travel Market London

London, England: The Islands Of The Bahamas were strongly promoted at this year’s World Travel Market, annually held at ExCel in East London.

Top executives from the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation attended the travel show along with 24 tourism stakeholder representatives from Nassau, Eleuthera/Harbour Island and Exuma.

Director General of Tourism Joy Jibrilu, Deputy Director General Ellison ‘Tommy’ Thompson and other executives participated in a number of high level meetings and workshops with airline partners, travel agents, tour operators and media to promote the ease of travelling to The Islands Of The Bahamas and the increased number of developments throughout the destination.

Additionally, a number of taxis around London were wrapped with Bahamas advertisement to keep the destination in the forefront of the minds of potential travellers.

At the epicenter of the event, The Islands Of The Bahamas were well displayed with vibrant colors, video materials, and plush Androsia table cloths.

Ms. Jibrilu said the aim of The Islands Of The Bahamas’ participation in World Travel Market is to increase traffic from Europe.

“The European traveller is the traveller that every destination wants. They are the travellers who don’t just come for a week. They stay for months and they travel throughout our destination looking for memorable experiences. And so we are competing heavily with the world for their business,” she said.

“Tourism is the cornerstone of our economy and we have to cement our position as a leader in tourism and display that to economies like Latin America, the Middle East and Europe.”

According to its website, World Travel Market London is the leading global event for the travel industry to meet industry professionals and conduct business deals.

Through its industry networks, unrivalled global reach, WTM London creates personal and business opportunities, providing customers with quality contacts, content and communities.

The event boasts exhibitors from 183 countries, and more than 75,500 trade visitors.
