NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Minister of Tourism the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe welcomed the Junkanoo Nymph as a new addition to the annual Junkanoo Summer Festival, which will be held during the month of July -- beginning July 4, 2015 at the Fish Fry, Arawak Cay.

During a Courtesy Call on Thursday at the Ministry of Tourism in the British Colonial Hilton, the Minister his senior staff marveled at the intricate body paint, and the costume made out of authentically Bahamian craft and shells which covered the statuesque 5ft 11 frame of the model, Analicia Thompson.

Ms. Thompson, 26, decided to become the nymph, as it will provide her with an opportunity to work with the Bahamian team members whom she described as amazing.

The team comprised painter Monty Knowles and designers Rochelle Knowles, Elizabeth Clarke, Troy Nixon, Bolerea Glinton and Dot Miller. The costume comprises a headpiece, bustier and skirt – all made out of sea grape leaves, coconut bark, Bahama Hand Print fabric and other materials found locally.

The Junkanoo Nymph and her team of designers are expected to make a Courtesy Call on Her Excellency Dame Marguerite, Governor General at Government House and of course, interact with patrons at the July festival.
