Nassau, New Providence - The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas has issued a call for applications for an open position at the Gallery for an EDUCATION OFFICER.

Job Description: The Education Officer is responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating content to effectively communicate the function of the museum and its collection and exhibitions to a wider audience. Working closely with the Curatorial Department, the Education Officer should be involved in the creation of each exhibition from the point of view of the uninitiated visitor, should assist with exhibition show content in label writing, essays, catalogue editing, and with information fliers.

Workshops and classes for groups or individuals should be designed to engage those who may not normally use the museum or gallery; The Education Officer’s aim is to deliver high-quality and dynamic programmes of learning and participation to ensure that the museum's collections act as a learning resource for all ages. They should work both within the gallery and also in a community context; be excellent writers and communicators; have knowledge of the National Curriculum; be well-acquainted with Bahamian and international art history; be able to manage volunteers, budgets and resources; and have good organisational and administrative skills.

Hours: Full Time, 40+ hours per week; Tuesday - Saturday

Minimum requirement: B.A.; Masters preferred.
