Students To Receive Guaranteed Job Offers From Luxury Resort

Nassau, Bahamas – 160 students who have successfully completed Baha Mar’s challenging Leadership Development Institute (LDI) curriculum will embark on the next stage of their career, following the Institute’s second graduation exercise on Tuesday.

The students received training through Baha Mar's LDI, the non-profit training institute supported by the luxury resort, honing life skills as well as preparing them to become better employees in the workplace.

"Baha Mar is building a culture of better-than-best service, beginning with the Bahamians that we train and hire. LDI is giving Bahamians from diverse communities the chance to invest in themselves and start their careers in hospitality at this transformative resort," said Baha Mar's Chief Operating Officer Paul V. Pusateri.

The students, chosen from hundreds of applicants, were selected to enter the challenging program to receive training in day and evening classes as part of Baha Mar’s multimillion-dollar investment in training and recruiting Bahamians to work at the luxury resort. The 16-week day and night classes, for men and women ages 16-to-24 years and 25 years and older respectively, provide job readiness training in areas such as communication and time management. Additionally, the courses teach leadership, numeracy and parenting skills.

The graduates have a guaranteed job offer from Baha Mar in areas such as food and beverage, housekeeping, and security, allowing them to choose the next step in their careers and to identify other areas of interest at the resort.

Keynote speaker, activist and published author, Dr. Calvin Mackie will inspire graduates to strive for greatness, telling the story of his personal path to success.

The graduation ceremony will be held on August 19th at the Meliá Nassau Beach Resort.
