Nassau, Bahamas – The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) wishes to provide the following final update for our valued customers and the general public with respect to the major failure of our water transmission main on Prince Charles Drive, approximately 300 feet west of Beatrice Avenue; which we experienced earlier this morning.

The required repairs were completed at approximately 5PM today and restoration of normal water supply commenced immediately thereafter.  As of 8PM this evening, it is anticipated that the restoration of normal water supply will be substantially complete.

Our team is presently on site completing the necessary site restoration works to open the roadway.  Motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution when passing thru the area of the works as the transmission main failure earlier today has created an uneven road surface.  WSC will be taking immediate steps to temporarily reinstate the roadway until the permanent works can be scheduled and executed.

WSC extends our sincere apologies to our valued customers in Eastern NP who were impacted earlier today and to the residents, businesses, pedestrians and motorists in the immediate area of the works for the inconvenience caused. We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your patience.

Any customer who is still experiencing low pressure and/or no water or any water quality challenge is urged to contact our Call Center at 302-5599 or email: help@wsc.com.bs.

Nassau, Bahamas – (3PM UPDATE) The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) wishes to update our valued customers and the general public with respect to the major failure of our water transmission main on Prince Charles Drive, approximately 300 feet west of Beatrice Avenue; that we experienced earlier this morning.

As of 3PM today, our team on site has located the failed section of 24-inch transmission main, it has been removed and the team is presently installing a new section of main. It is anticipated that the repair works will be completed by approximately 6PM this evening; then we will commence the restoration of normal water supply; however, it must be noted that it will take a few hours to fully restore normal water supply.

To limit the number of customers impacted and the duration and severity on those impacted, WSC took steps earlier today to reroute water supplies where possible; however in some cases, the supply is at a lower than normal level of service.

To protect the motoring public, the Royal Bahamas Police Force has routed eastbound traffic thru Jean Street and westbound traffic thru Beatrice Avenue.  Motorists are asked to exercise caution as they drive along the diversions and to respect the signage and directions posted.

We will issue a further update later today once the repairs are completed and we commence the restoration of water supply.

WSC extends our sincere apologies to our valued customers in Eastern NP who have been impacted and to the residents, businesses, pedestrians and motorists in the immediate area of the works for the inconvenience caused. We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your patience.
