Nassau, The Bahamas –The opportunity of a lifetime began for more than 90 participants at the Baha Mar Gaming Academy yesterday. The free casino dealer training program welcomed its first class, providing Bahamians who have a passion for service with the skills to continue a career in gaming or to transition to a career in gaming. The Baha Mar Gaming Academy received more than 700 applications, 300 of which were accepted into the challenging program. Although the applicants hailed from various professional backgrounds, all of the participants are eager to be a part of
what will be the most exciting casino in the Caribbean, rivaling the best gaming destinations in the world including Las Vegas and Macau.

“I have a business degree and I own my own business, but I saw the gaming school as a great opportunity for someone like me with an outgoing personality to be a part of something amazing,” said Gianna Sturrup, a Baha Mar Gaming Academy participant.
The classes are conducted in small groups led by professional trainers to give participants one-on-one instruction and constructive feedback. The program consists of day and evening sessions over 14 weeks and 18 weeks respectively. During the course of the sessions, the students will learn popular games such as Black Jack, Baccarat, Roulette, Craps and Pai Gow Poker. Additional training will be offered in games such as Let It Ride, Three-Card Poker, Caribbean Stud and War.

“The Baha Mar Gaming Academy is part of our ongoing commitment to provide training and create opportunities for Bahamians. Our guests travel all over the world for a great gaming experience. The training that these participants are receiving will ensure that Baha Mar provides a world-class gaming experience that will exceed their expectations and make them want to return to Baha Mar,” said Baha Mar Chief Operating Officer, Paul V. Pusateri.

The Baha Mar Casino will feature 100,000 square feet of high-end gaming on the largest casino floor in the Caribbean. The Casino will thrill guests with the latest slots and table games, including a state-of- the-art Sports Book area and VIP gaming rooms.
Candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the Baha Mar Standards and successfully complete the challenging program will be offered positions in gaming at Baha Mar, such as table games dealer or table games supervisor.
