Commemorative Stamps Pay Tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Tourism in The Bahamas

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Baha Mar has been selected as one of the ‘game changers’ in tourism during the unveiling of a series of special commemorative stamps honoring the 50th Anniversary of Tourism in the Bahamas.

Designed by Baha Mar’s creative services manager Nadine Schuermann, the commemorative stamp showcases the majestic silhouette of the dramatic $3.5 billion gaming resort, representing a new chapter in the history of global glamour. Baha Mar will introduce four luxury hotel brands to The Bahamas in late Spring 2015 – Grand Hyatt, Rosewood, SLS LUX and the dazzling centerpiece, the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel.

“As a Bahamian, it has been an honor to design the historic stamp that will mark the opening of Baha Mar. I have the best job in the world,” Schuermann said.

Accepting the first set of fifty cent stamps at Pompey Square today, Baha Mar Senior Vice President for Government and External Affairs, Robert Sands said Baha Mar is poised to revolutionize the tourism industry.

“Baha Mar is transforming tourism in The Bahamas. We are more than just a luxury gaming resort. Baha Mar represents the soul and culture of The Bahamas, and our most valuable asset – the people of The Bahamas – will make this resort a success,” Sands said.

The commemorative stamps were commissioned as part of a collaborative effort between the Postmaster General and the Ministry of Tourism.
