NASSAU, The Bahamas - Working
to build stronger business ties between China and the Americas, Baha
Mar recently hosted members of the China Council for the Promotion of
International Trade (CCPIT) during a two-day forum which was
a precursor to the first-ever Sino Americas Summit scheduled to be held at Baha Mar in July 2015. The forum was also attended by The Bahamas Minister
of Financial Services, Ryan Pinder, His
Excellency Yuan Guisen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, as well as members of the Bahamas
Investment Authority.
The
CCPIT operates in the same manner as a Chamber of Commerce, promoting
China’s international business interests by developing cooperation and
exchanges with other countries.
This
forum and the upcoming Sino Americas Summit demonstrate Baha Mar’s
understanding of the interrelated nature of the global economy. The
forum also took place as
the Ministry of Financial Services pushes to strengthen the business
and political relationships between the People’s Republic of China and
The Bahamas.
The
Sino Americas Summit is a by invitation only event, scheduled for July
2015. It is intended to be an “Economic Forum for the Americas” and is
being hosted in the
“Switzerland” of the Americas -The Bahamas. The Summit will attract
more than 200 international global leaders in business and government,
including chief executive officers, cabinet ministers and multilateral

deeper cultural understanding
to improve the lives of citizens in the Caribbean and the Americas and
define best practices for the regions in the years ahead.
“Attracting
partners such as the CCPIT is another way that Baha Mar is delivering
on our promise to transform our country. In many ways, The Bahamas is
the gateway
to the Americas and, as a global destination, Baha Mar speaks the
language of the global economy,” Tom Dunlap, President of Baha Mar
said. “We are proud to be the premier location for leaders to share
innovative ideas with their counterparts from around the
world and build key partnerships that help to grow our economy.”
Richard Burns, Chairman of the Latin Trade Group adds, “Until now, China
and the Americas have not had a neutral home for this important
dialogue.”
Baha
Mar, because of its historic partnership with its Chinese investment
and construction partners, is the natural venue for this dialogue and
Latin Trade is proud
to bring these two parts of the world together in a timely way.”
