Bahamas Arbitratation Branch gear up for Arbritration and Investment Summit in The Bahamas

Nassau, Bahamas - The Charter Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Bahamas branch held a luncheon to discuss the latest developments in the field of arbitration and mediation and to prepare for an upcoming Summit. The 7th Annual Arbitration and Investment Summit will be take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Baha Mar Convention Centre.

"Several times a year, The Bahamas Branch of CIArb offers training courses in mediation, arbitration and construction adjudication in Nassau and in Freeport,” said Williams Higgs, Chair of education and training. “The cost is comparable to the London-based courses and we expect to offer courses within the first quarter of 2019 and will share the details as soon as they are confirmed," he said.

“In the meantime, a great educational and networking opportunity will take place at the upcoming Arbitration and Investment Summit,” said Peter Maynard, FCIArb, Head of Law Department, University of The Bahamas and senior partner, Peter D Maynard, Counsel and Attorneys who is also a speaker.

Other speakers at the event include the Hon. Sir Dennis Byron, Former President of the Caribbean Court of Justice, President of the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute, the Hon. Barry Leon, Arbitrator and Mediator, Former BVI Commercial Court Judge, Anette Magnusson, Secretary-General at the Arbitration Institute of Stockholm Sweden.
