Nassau, Bahamas - As the excitement builds around the anticipated Bahamas Carnival, scheduled May 7th- 9th, 2015, The Bahamas Festival Commission will host the Road Fever Expo on Saturday, 27, September, 2014 at The Melia Resort from noon to 6pm.

The expo will feature twenty-six of the Road Fever Companies that will showcase samples of their costumes. Attendees and participants will have the opportunity to view the costumes, meet the Road Fever Company members, choose a costume, register with a Road Fever Company, and enter to win hourly costume giveaways.

Roscoe Dames, CEO,BNFC said, “Road Fever is the event that will conclude the Bahamas Carnival Festival. It is the main masquerade that will consist of an epic collage of costumes, color and culture on parade in front of the most iconic grandstand crossing of any carnival in the world.”

What seems to be most intriguing in regards to the costumes for the Road Fever event, is that all costumes will contain an element of Bahamian indigenous raw materials. The expo presents an opportunity for the companies to display their creativity, while showcasing the diverse Bahamian materials and how to use them.

Raw materials including straw, sisal, sponge, seeds,  etc. will be incorporated into the various costumes. Dames expressed his excitement for the Road Fever Expo “I am looking forward to the Road Fever Expo mainly because it is one of the first events of its kind, displaying the level of creativity of our Bahamian people. This is also a dynamic opportunity to present our culture to the world through the ability to purchase costumes via our e-commerce website,” he added.

Bahamas Carnival is a collage of our culture. It is a festive weeklong celebration where Bahamians and guests from around the world will be immersed in all things Bahamian. The carnival events will showcase Junkanoo, Rake -n- Scrape, arts and crafts, Bahamian cuisine, visual art, music, dance and more.

It is also a high level entertainment experience, which sets the stage for Bahamian recording artists to nurture their sound and express themselves in front of a global audience.
