Bahamas Humane Society on standby for displaced or injured animals from fire

Bahamas Humane Society stands ready to help families in need with their pets. On Sunday night they had already received 5 animals affected by the fires. The facility is open 24 hours for emergencies. (BHS photos)

Nassau, New Providence - The Bahamas Humane Society says it is on stand by for displaced or injured animals because of the fire at the city dump and the evacuations in Flamingo Gardens. They are open 24 hours for the public.

The society has put a call out for canned dog food ( the cats will eat) with the easy open tops; towels; blankets; and carriers, crates and carriers available. Donations ca be left on the front porch of the shelter.

In a statement issued Sunday night, BHS wishes the public to be advised of the following:

·  We will like to remind the public that we are open 24 Hours for emergencies

· If you would like to donate items to the shelter you can leave them on the front porch.

·  Our Inspector Rodger Armaly has already been in Jubilee Gardens assisting Families with evacuations.

·  Anybody wishing to volunteer at the shelter tomorrow can contact The Bahamas Humane Society @323-5138 @8am.

·  The shelter will open tomorrow at 7am.

·  There will be no adoption services tomorrow, Monday, March 6th, as the shelter will be focused on rescues and emergency care for animals affected from the Jubilee fire
