Nassau, Bahamas - (Joint Statement from Department of Environmental Health and Department of Immigration)

Acting pursuant to lawful notices served on residents of an unlawful settlement in the Gamble Heights area of New Providence, the Department of Environmental Health began this morning the process of removing the settlement in collaboration with the Ministry of Works and the Department of Social Services.

The Department of Immigration was advised that this is an area where persons suspected of being unlawful migrants live and are therefore in the presence of the operation in a supporting role.
