Bahamas breaks world record for most conchs blown at one time

Nassau, New Providence - Bahamas breaks the Guinness World Record for the most people blowing Conch Shells simultaneously. The record was achieved by the 41st Independence Secretariat (Bahamas) at Clifford Park, Nassau, Bahamas on 9th July, 2014 on the occasion of the Bahamas 41st Independence.


The old record for Conch Shell Blowing was 258 persons. The new record is now 295 persons. A total of 300 persons participated in the history making event .

Persons who were involved:

Deputy Commander, Captain Tellis Bethel RBDF & RBDF guards
Police Band participants
All Star Band
Church of God Band
Urban Renewal Band
CV Bethel Band
COB Band
Colours Junkanoo members
Citizens & Residents that came out
Visitors from all over including Canada & USA
Dave "Pot" Smith on the washtub
