NASSAU, Bahamas — Although Omega-3 fatty acids have been known as essential to normal growth and health since the 1930s, awareness of their health benefits has dramatically increased in the past few years. The heart-health benefits of the long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids — DHA and EPA Omega-3 — are the best known. These benefits were discovered in the 1970s by researchers studying the Greenland Eskimos. The Greenland Eskimos consumed large amounts of fat from seafood, but displayed virtually no cardiovascular disease. The high level of Omega-3 fatty acids consumed by the Eskimos reduced triglycerides, heart rate, blood pressure, and atherosclerosis.

Closer to home a City Market customer, Mr. Bethell, was advised to take Omega-3 to improve his heart health and, following a recommendation, chose the lemon flavored soft gel manufactured by Natrol. When asked about the product he said “I heard about Natrol and the Omega 3 from a medical seminar I attended and it was said that it was good for the heart.   There is no after taste either.”

Mr. Bethell was the winner of Natrol’s ‘win an iPod Touch’ competition. Natrol advocate James ‘Jay’ Darling aka Mr. Bahamas Bodybuilding 2009 recognizes the importance of quality supplements. He said “My training routine, particularly leading up to competitions, takes a toll on the body and I use Natrol supplements as part of my dietary regimen." He is pictured here with Mr. Bethell inside City Market’s Seagrape store.

“There are many compelling reasons to use quality supplements, even in hard times when stress levels increase and the ability to pay medical bills decrease” said Simon Cooper, the General Manager for Natrol’s local distributor, Bahamas Supply Agencies Limited. “We would like to thank Mr. Bethell, City Market and Custom Computers for supporting Natrol.”
