Nassau, Bahamas - On Friday, DQ Bahamas, the largest ice cream chain in the nation, celebrated the grand opening of its sixth location in the British Colonial Hilton across from the US Embassy. This milestone store opening highlights DQ’s continued momentum in its local growth agenda. It comes on the heels of the opening of the Seagrapes Plaza location in Eastern New Providence in 2018.

“Throughout our growth, what is paramount for us is that we stay true to our mission of delivering joy to local families,” stated DQ’s Derek Osborne. “We hope that with this new addition, more persons can create and savour sweet memories whenever they visit a DQ store.”

Joining in the celebrations were Tebby Burrows, singer-songwriter and winner of NBC’s hit show “Songland,” and performer Julien Believe.

The new, 1000 square foot store located in the heart of the city seats approximately 35 guests and will be open seven days a week, 10 am to 8 pm. Eight additional team members have been hired at the location, bringing DQ’s local team to 75 persons.

The BC Hilton location will serve DQ’s much-loved selection of treats, including blizzard treats and blizzard cakes, dipped cones and DQ bakes desserts. Additionally, DQ’s variety of meals and snacks will also be available, including the $7 fan meal, $6 hot dog deal and $5 snack deal.

This new location joins the family of DQ stores including Harbour Bay Shopping Plaza, Mall at Marathon, West Bay Shopping Centre, Southwest Plaza, and the Seagrapes Shopping Plaza.

DQ has been serving the Bahamian public treats for 12 years. While steadily growing in the local market, DQ has consistently given back to the community it serves. Since 2014, the company has donated more than $56,000 to help children through Miracle Treat Day, their annual event where $2 from every blizzard treat sold is donated to charity. To date, the company has donated to organizations advocating for children with diabetes, cancer, autism, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, and sickle cell.

Dairy Queen is the original soft serve ice cream retailer, and it is today the largest ice cream chain in the world. The company will continue to strengthen its leadership position in The Bahamas through increased organic growth.
