Nassau, Bahamas - Doctors Hospital’s Maternity Department was thrilled to welcome the first baby of 2015 early in the evening of January 1st.

Each year the hospital teams up with Lowe’s Wholesale to recognize the first baby boy and first baby girl born in the New Year.

First up was a baby boy – Isaiah Enoch Smith born to Kendra Sherman and Enoch Smith. He arrived at 6:37pm on January 1, weighing 5lbs, 10oz.

The proud mother says she was impressed with the level of care she and her baby received at Doctors Hospital.

“It felt like I was in a hotel. The nurses kept checking on me, even at night when I was resting. I would definitely tell others to try and have their births here,” she says.

Other babies followed in those early days of 2015, but in each instance, the Maternity Department sent down a message that it was yet another boy.

In fact, it wasn’t until 3:14am on January 10th, that the first girl for 2015 arrived at Doctors Hospital.

Layla Treco-Voisin, weighing 7lbs 14oz, arrived a couple days early to ensure that she and her parents Leah Treco and Garth Voisin would get treated to a basket of Johnson and Johnson baby products to help take care of her.
