Nassau, Bahamas - Every year, Doctors Hospital offers women a chance to win a potentially life saving prize – Mammograms for Life in the state-of-the-art, full-field digital mammography center at Doctors Hospital.

More than 250 ladies entered themselves or were entered by someone who loves them for a chance to win. The most recent winner, who now has a free mammogram every year for the rest of her life is Sharrie Moxey.

The retiree was traveling when she was selected as the winner, was very excited to receive this possibly life saving prize.

“I had no idea that my daughter had entered me into this promotion. I was so excited. I have never won anything!” she said.

The recommendation for women is to start having mammograms at the age of 40, especially in the Bahamas where Breast Cancer is one of the biggest killers among women. At the age of 58, Ms Moxey will surely be able to benefit from receiving a free mammogram for the rest of her life.

“I have only had one mammogram before, last year was my first,” adding that she will be making an appointment for her next mammogram very soon.

Doctors Hospital’s comprehensive Digital Imaging Department enables patients to have a full range of testing depending on their needs. In addition to the Hologic Selenia full-field digital mammography system and the only 3-D Automated Breast Ultrasound machine in The Bahamas, Doctors Hospital has the ability to offer patients a breast MRI which is extremely useful in cases where there is either a high risk because of a woman’s family history or where initial screening shows a questionable lesion requiring additional scrutiny.
