Nassau, The Bahamas - Photos presented here by Demetrius Francis are of the 36th Independence of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas Clifford Park celebrations event on Thursday, July 9th.

With the theme ‘Towards a common loftier goal’, The Bahamas is celebrating 36 years of Independence, and this cultural show depicted this with a kaleidoscope of colour, music and performance.   Prayers, a flag raising, inspection and fireworks also took place.

The Governor General, his Excellency Arthur Hanna was on hand for the event.

“In the spirit of unity, let us pursue the loftier goal of peace and goodwill,” said Governor General, his Excellency Arthur Hanna, in his Independence Day message.
