Grant funding program created to birth new Bahamian entrepreneurs

Nassau, Bahamas - Island Luck Cares Foundation announces the start of the OWN Your Bahamas specially designed course at the College of the Bahamas, for grant recipients. The seven grant recipients began their first course on “ How to Start and Operate a Small Business” at COB this past Friday. Through this course, participants will learn additional skills and knowledge in the areas of business management, financial planning responsibility and start up practices and policies of the Bahamas.

The course will run for 6 weeks during which time program participants will also receive mentorship from some of the country’s leading executives, business leaders and entrepreneurs. OWN is an initiative focused on offering entrepreneurial opportunities for persons who have new and exciting ideas within existing or new industries. These selected individuals display the desire and motivation to own, manage and operate a start-up, but lacked the support and capital to fund the business themselves.

“Our main goal for OWN is to assist Bahamians with the financial support, mentorship, and business know-how, while helping to remove other barriers that may prevent small start-up businesses from succeeding”, said Sebastian Bastian, CEO Island Luck. “We’re excited to be able to offer this program to such creative and driven individuals who have shown great potential in creating the next great business or industry in the Bahamas.”
