Kenred Dorsett Minister of the Environment and Housing RE: Fire at the New Providence Landfill Nassau, Bahamas - A fire erupted this morning at the New Providence Landfill location. Initial reports lead us to suspect that tires were intentionally lit in the early morning hours. The Department of Environmental Health Services (DEHS) Emergency Fire Unit responded to the blaze quickly and have advised me that the fire has been contained as at 2 pm this afternoon. The public will be kept informed as we continue to address this matter.
