NAD Issues Airport Hotel RFP To Potential Proponents

Nassau, Bahamas - Today, Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) issued the Request for Proposal (RFP) for an on-site hotel at Lynden Pindling International Airport. The successful proponent will design, finance, construct and operate the hotel to meet the needs of domestic and international travelers.

Interested parties can now access the full RFP document online at www.nassaulpia.com/RFP-public where they will find details on submission requirements as well as important deadlines for the application process. Persons can also email LPIAHotelRFP@nas.bs to request an electronic copy of the document. As outlined in the RFP, potential proponents are required to register for a mandatory pre-submission meeting and site visit. Participants have the option of registering for a meeting on either Thursday February 21, 2019 or Friday February 22, 2019. Final proposal submissions will be due on Friday, May 24, 2019.

Jan Knowles, Vice President of Marketing & Communications encourages interested proponents to access the RFP document and review it closely for a full understanding of the proposal process. “The document is key to the process as it provides general instructions to interested proponents and outlines mandatory qualifications, evaluation criteria, technical and site information among other things. It is also important to note that due to airport security considerations, appendices to the RFP document will not be posted on the website but available by request to interested proponents,” Knowles explained.

The airport management company has allotted four months between the issuing of the RFP and the deadline for proposal submissions to allow prospective proponents the opportunity to conduct feasibility studies, form respondent teams where required and put forward a solid proposal for consideration.

Knowles continued: “We are looking for strong proponents with the financial capability and experience to execute the project and operate the on-site hotel.  We want the design and build-out of the hotel to complement the airport by taking into consideration the current design and environmentally sustainable features at LPIA. Ideally, the hotel will enhance the customer experience for travelers as well as other airport stakeholders by offering convenient accommodations for those transiting LPIA for either domestic or international travel.”

Last year, the airport management company held an Expression of Interest to gather feedback and insights on the development of a hotel at LPIA.  The proposed site for the project is 4.68 acres of vacant land just northeast of the current US Departures Terminal building.
