Nasssau, Bahamas - To dream the impossible dream is precisely what the late Adrella Gibson did, when she proposed the creation of therapeutic environments throughout the grounds of the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre compound.

Nursing Officer Gibson was adamant that the clients’ clinical experience should be complemented by the outdoors. Ms. Gibson was one of the Bahamas’ most decorated and qualified Psychiatric Nurses. She provided a blue print that guided the process for developing the areas even after her death on August 12th 2012.

On Sunday 22nd February, 2015 at 3:00pm Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre will officially rename Phase One of the project “Drella’s Dream” in memory of this great nursing legend. The Bahamas is invited to share in this historic celebration as we move from stigma to socialization.

This dream come true will provide a beautiful landscaped, furnished, sensory garden to facilitate the restoration of individual lives, family relationships and the healing of the nation.

Bahamas mental health is marching on, please join in.
