Nassau, Bahamas - The Island House (TIH), a new 30-room boutique hotel in western New Providence, is ready to showcase its distinctive blend of contemporary luxury and authentic island style.

The doors will officially open on April 16, following the handing over of the fully Bahamian-owned, Bahamian-financed property by the Bahamian contractors. The first few weeks of operation will constitute a soft opening for selected guests and members, with the hotel expected to be in full operation by mid May.

Reservations are now being accepted and The Island House is already fully booked for the first two months. The hotel has also begun reviewing requests and issuing invitations for membership, which grants access to a host of privileges and amenities.

TIH is the creation of Lauren and Mark Holowesko and their family, whom has been investing in The Bahamas for more than 30 years. Osprey Construction Company is the builder.

The property has already been featured in the international press, including premier publications such as Conde Nast Traveller, TravelPulse and Luxury Travel Magazine.

“As the big day approaches we could not be more excited,” said project manager Lauren Holowesko. “I want to thank everyone involved for their hard work, dedication and faith in this project. We set out to create an island experience that is different than any other, and I believe we have managed to do just that.”

The East and West wings of the hotel consist of beautifully appointed garden and ocean view guestrooms. There are also two elegant and expansive poolside cottages with secluded outdoor showers, which can be partitioned into six suites and junior suites.

The southern edge of the property is dominated by the TIH Apartments, six spacious and secure units that command spectacular views of both the ocean and the picturesque southern expanse of the island. These are being offered on a long-term rental basis.

The Island House offers a range of eclectic choices for dining throughout the day, including the already acclaimed Mahogany House, with its seasonal menu highlighting native organic ingredients and fresh local fish.

Shima, located on the top floor of The Island House, offers sophisticated and relaxed open-air dining featuring the fresh, vibrant flavors of Southeast Asia and a specially chosen accompanying wine list.

The Coffee Bar serves breakfast daily, a light lunch and offers fresh baked pastries and breads alongside a wide selection of coffee and tea throughout the day.

Health and fitness are central themes of The Island House, and the property features a variety of amenities designed to energize, rejuvenate and relax.

The Bamford Spa is a tranquil, soothing wellness retreat that offers a wide variety of individually crafted treatments based on a holistic approach to harnessing the rejuvenating power of nature. The Bamford Body Collection will be the product line used throughout TIH and will form the basis of a range of beauty, massage and therapeutic treatments offered at the spa.

The property also features a fully stocked gym, 25-meter lap pool, squash and Padel courts, and a movement studio offering Antigravity® classes, as well as traditional yoga, Pilates and Barre programs under the guidance of experienced and qualified instructors.

The Island House aims to become known as a hub for meetings and conferences, and features a diverse range of event spaces, from the intimacy of the Library, to the ample freedom of the expansive Events Lawn, to the 80 seat, fully equipped Meeting Room featuring a state-of-the-art a/v and projector system.

Like the hotel itself, the 48-seat TIH Cinema was designed to attract and captivate guests and local culture buffs alike. Regularly showing both blockbuster and art house films with a special focus on Caribbean and Bahamian productions, the versatile space will also host live music, seminars and speaking events.

This focus on local culture is also reflected in the resort’s art collection, which highlights young and emerging Bahamian talents as well as well-known masters. Original work is featured not just in the hotel’s common areas, but also in every room.

“In all things, we want TIH to remain true to its Bahamian roots,” Holowesko said. “We were born and raised here, and want to use our local knowledge to showcase another side of paradise, to guests who may associate The Bahamas with the larger, more mainstream resorts.
