NASSAU, Bahamas - The public is advised that effective Tuesday, October
16th, there will be changes to traffic flow at the Lynden Pindling
International Airport.
There will also be changes to boarding procedures for passengers travelling to
non-US international destinations.
Next week Tuesday, the new
International Arrivals terminal will open for operation at LPIA. Stage three
construction will also commence. As a result of this, the public is advised of
the following traffic changes which take effect on October 16, 2012:
Members
of the public will now access the International Arrivals Terminal from the
Windsor Field roundabout leading to the US terminal, drive past the US
Terminal and proceed to the new International Arrivals terminal. (See
attached map for details.)
The
public will continue to access the Domestic and International Departures
Terminals from the airport entrance closest to Coral Harbour Road.
The
road leading to the Domestic and International Departures Terminals will
now be open to two-way traffic. As such, the motoring public is advised to
observe and obey all traffic signage in order to ensure peaceful
co-existence of all users, motorists and pedestrians.
The public is also advised that
persons checking in for International flights (i.e. those traveling to Canada, the United
Kingdom, the Caribbean and Latin
America) will check in as usual in the current International
Departures terminal and be processed by Security. After screening, passengers
will be bused out to the pier in order to await their flight in brand new hold
rooms. Please make the necessary arrangements to arrive at the airport in
sufficient time to be processed and board your flight.
We appreciate the public’s full
understanding, cooperation and patience as we continue to transform LPIA into a
world-class airport.
